Poetry
Whether you are a candidate for open mike or your simply enjoy listening to words strung together in such a way that they inspire and reignite you, Miami and Fort Lauderdale offer various poetry venues.

Enjoy Poetry Mellow Mondays at hip club Bluster in Hollywood, starting at 8:30pm.
Mega Bite Cyber Cafe in Hollywood offers free admission for blended performances of poetry and music on Friday. Performances begin at 8:00pm. If you want to take the stage, sign up at 7:30pm.
The Literary Cafe and Poetry Lounge’s history is sad since the poet and owner, Will “DaRealOne” was killed last year. He was featured in HBO’s Def Poetry Jam. Click here to view his performance of “So I Run“. The cafe continues to offer its stage for the electrifying performances by various talented performers every week on Saturdays at 9:30pm. Located at 1350 Northeast 125th Street in Miami.
Visit the Wallflower Gallery and enjoy the various open mikes during the week and the multitude of modern art hanging on its walls.
Art Classes
Maybe you have always wanted to try to draw or paint. Perhaps you would like to hone in your skills on paper and pencil or brush and canvas at the various open art classes offered locally.
Enjoy a lecture series by contemporary visual artists or take a clay or painting class at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood.
The Studio 18 in the Pines offers the rare drop-in Life Drawing Class on the last Thursday of every month from 7:00-9:00pm with a live model. It is reasonably priced at $15 per session. Check out their link for information on the various offerings.
The Bakehouse Art Complex in Miami offers uninstructed open figure drawing on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month from 3:00-5:00pm with a live art model for $10. Seating is available on first come first serve basis. Participants must bring your own materials. Drawing boards and seats are provided.
The ArtCenter in Miami offers uninstructed drop-in open drawing every Wednesdays from 7:00-10:00pm with a live model. All media is welcome and no registration is necessary. Reasonably priced at $12 per session. Come and rub elbows with some of Miami’s wonderful local artists.
Romero Hidalgo Artists’ Studios in Miami offers uninstructed open model sessions from 7:00 to 9:00pm on Tuesday and Thursday and at 9:30am to 12:30pm on Saturdays. Cost is $7 per 2 hour session and $10 per 3 hour session. Though you have to bring your own art supplies, the studio provides easel and taboret. Live art male or female models may be nude or clothed for long poses. No pre-registration is required so spontaneous creativity is possible.
