Flippers in Hollywood

Forget dinner and a movie. Flippers is a dream come true for screen aficionados. This old style cineplex has 10 screens for your viewing pleasure. Smaller than mainstream movie theaters, this place is clean and not crowded . It is also very inexpensive. But wait, we were talking about video games right? Well, the best part of Flippers is their Xbox 360 rooms.

In an innovative twist, this once struggling theater decided to convert two of their theaters into X-box 360 gaming rooms. This stroke of genius is now their most successful customer draw. They removed every other row of seats and installed a TV and an X-Box 360 in the empty row. Every two seats has it own Xbox set up so two people can play on that one screen. Patrons are allowed to bring their own controllers. They have hundreds of titles and every Xbox is hooked up to X-box live, so they can play multi player games across several screens if they bring it in a pen drive. Since their hours are 4 p.m. to midnight, visitors do not have to endure the summer camp crowd.

Only $5 to play, it’s definitely affordable. Visitors compliment management and staff have who are said to be friendly and courteous. If your kids are playing in the game room, you can catch a later movie which are usually blissfully under attended. They also have really good junk fresh food like popcorn, fries, burgers, chicken tenders, pizza and cotton candy all under $5.00.

Dave and Busters

Good food and drinks at this arcade and bar are a draw. Children of all ages are welcome to Dave and Busters and the crowd is family friendly. Visitors can eat, restaurant style, watch the game on large flat screens and walk around and enjoy the multitude of video games available. Old and new games abound, making for a good selection and lots of options for different skill levels. Though it can’t be called inexpensive, this place makes up for that in variety of activities and atmosphere.

After a great day at the beach, these places are a fun way to bring in the evening. Both are located nearby in Hollywood, so very little time will be spent traveling. If staying in your comfy hotel room sounds more enticing, find out from hotel staff if bringing your own gaming console, controllers and games is possible.
